At Medicine Shoppe Canada Corporation (“Medicine Shoppe Canada”, “we” or “us”), we value the trust that you place in us to appropriately use and protect your personal information. This Privacy Notice informs visitors and regular users of the Your Health at Medicine Shoppe Canada Mobile App (collectively referred to as the “Services”) about the purposes for which we may collect, use, and share personal information. Our privacy philosophy is based on the 10 fair information principles found in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). We want you to be clear on how we process personal information and the ways in which we protect it.

The External Privacy Policy covers our information handling practices, your access rights, correction processes, and contact information of our Privacy Office for submitting your questions or requests.
The External Privacy Policy and this Privacy Notice together are the “Privacy Policies”.
You will be required to provide your express consent to register for the Services. You can always decide which component(s) of the Services you wish to use, and you can always decide which information you provide to us through the Services. If you do not agree with our practices, do not use the Services, and do not download, register with or use any related applications. By using the Services, you agree to the Privacy Policies, and consent to our use and disclosure of your personal information as described therein.
We encourage you to read the Privacy Policies in full to understand our privacy practices before using the Services or submitting any personal information.
Consent & Revocation of Consent
By submitting information to us in connection with the Services or using the Services you are providing your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as set out in this Privacy Policy and we, as well as our staff, may rely on that consent. We may also be entitled by law to contact you for commercial purposes, subject to your right to withdraw consent detailed below.
Consent may be withdrawn at any time, subject to legal, regulatory, or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; however, without such consent, we may not be able to provide you with the Services.
Commercial Electronic Communications: You can always limit the communications that we send to you. You may choose to stop receiving our newsletter or marketing emails, if applicable, by following the unsubscribe instructions included in these emails, contacting us using the contact information listed in the Contact section of this Privacy Notice below, or updating your account preferences through the Services. Please note that even if you opt-out of promotional communications, we may still need to contact you with important information about your account, and content made available or displayed to you via the Services will remain customized for you.
Health information: You can always modify the health information you make available within the Services by accessing your account and making the relevant changes or by calling your pharmacy at any time. You may also reach out using the Contact Information listed in the Contact section of this Privacy Notice below.
Account deletion can be requested in the app in the user profile section. Our support team will proceed with the deletion and confirm with you once the process is complete.
You may also discontinue information collection by uninstalling the App using the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.
Personal Information We Collect
When you use the Services, we may collect personal information about you. The personal information we collect includes:
- Contact and demographic information, such as your name, gender, date of birth, contact information (postal code, city and province/territory, email address, shipping/billing address, telephone number).
- Account and transaction information, such as your password management information, as well as information related to your participation in the Services (including, for example, services that you choose to request).
- Technical information, when this information can identify you as an individual, for instance if it is related to other information you provide. This may include information that you share or make visible on the Internet, including usage information (i.e. your interactions with the Services, searches and location information), log data (when you access the Services, our servers automatically receive and log information from your browser), information from your device (hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, location, and available mobile network information), IP address, cookie information, the pages and functionality requested, and information available through to your device’s camera, photo library, or microphone, if you choose to provide the Services access to those tools.
- Health information, which may include information about such things as your health conditions, medication purchases, prescription history, and underlying diagnosis.
- Location information: we might get an idea of your location, either roughly or exactly, based on how you use our Platform and your device settings. We could figure out your general location based on your IP address, or your precise location using GPS if you give us permission. You can choose to turn off the sharing of your exact location through your device settings.
- Insurance information for the provision of health care, or health care related services.
Voice recording information for individuals who contact us and whom we contact. How Your Personal Information Is Collected
We may collect personal information about you in different ways when you use the Services:
- From you directly, for instance through your enrolment in, or use of, the Services; your interactions with us (for example, when you communicate with us); your purchase of products from us or participating retailers; or your participation in surveys, marketing promotions, or contests. You may also provide us with personal information through other means (for instance, verbally).
- Through your online or electronic activity when using the Services, whether a website, or otherwise, including through self-reported information and communications with us through or with respect to the Services.
- In some cases, information will be collected from sources other than the individual, for example third parties who represent they have the right to disclose such information to us.
- The Services allows you to self-report your information. For example, you can enter medical documents, or health-related information such as allergy information, through the Services.
- From your healthcare provider(s), a medical records system, or pharmacy management or dispensation software. In such case, your personal health information such as purchases of medication may be collected or generated by your pharmacist or your healthcare provider(s).
- From you directly or from your health care provider(s), whomever is the reporter of an adverse event, a medical inquiry, or a quality complaint for the purposes identified below.
How Your Personal Information is Used
We use your personal information for:
- Registration: To use the Services, you must register for an account and provide certain Personal Information to us such as your name and email address.
- Mobile Location Data: We may ask you if you want to give our application access to your mobile devices location. If you grant access to your mobile location, we may collect location data from your device for analytics and to better provide our Services to you.
- Communications with us: When you contact us through email, telephone, chat, social media private/direct message or through submitting a Customer service inquiry, customer review or survey, entering a contest on MedicineShoppe.ca, we may collect the information that you provide to us in the course of the communication to help respond to you or for purposes related to your communication.
- Transactional Notifications: We may provide notifications for certain activities relating to your use of our Services despite your indicated e-mail preferences regarding marketing communications; for example, we may send you notices of any important updates regarding your orders, or updates to our Privacy Policy or Terms of Use.
- Healthcare: We may use the personal health information we collect to:
- operate pharmacy services and to provide you with information about your prescriptions and healthcare;
- remind you of specific actions you need to take regarding your medications;
- inform you of relevant government policies related to your prescription coverage;
- provide you with health and wellness related information;
- allow you to fill and re-fill prescriptions electronically;
- understand your preferences, needs, and consumer behaviour and improve your customer experience; and
- present you with customized information and advertisements for therapies and products that are relevant to your health condition(s).
- Marketing Communications: If you opt-in to receive marketing communications from us, we will keep you up to date on our products and services. You may withdraw your consent to receiving marketing communications at any time by following the opt-out instructions in each communication, or by contacting us as indicated in the Contact section below.
- Statistics: We also collect statistics about use of the Services purchased. This information will be kept confidential; however, aggregate statistics that do not personally identify an individual will be kept by us and may be made available to other members or third parties.
- Advertisements: Advertisements may be delivered by us or one or more third-party web advertisers. These third-party web advertisers may set tracking technologies. These tracking technologies allow the advertisement server operated by that third party to recognize your device each time they send you an online advertisement. Accordingly, advertisement servers may compile information about where or whether you viewed their advertisements and which advertisements you clicked on. This information allows web advertisers to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. For the privacy practices of third-party web advertisers, you should consult the applicable privacy policy for the relevant third-party web advertiser(s).
- De-Identified Data: We may use de-identified, aggregated, data collected from you for our own purposes, such as research and development, marketing, and improving our products and services. This data will not be personally identifiable and will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Privacy Notice.
- To manage and process adverse event reports on our products, to manage and respond to your medical inquiry requests, or to manage and respond to your quality complaints and to meet quality control requirements related to product safety. We only process necessary information to document your reaction and meet legal requirements for pharmacovigilance, safety, quality, and inquiries. This helps us and government authorities prevent future adverse events. We use your data only for these purposes and to respond to your requests.
Web Beacons, and Related Technologies
System Logs & Cookies: Like many applications, we use "ctracking technologiess" to collect certain types of information when you access the Services. These are alphanumeric identifiers that are placed on your device to enable our systems to recognize your browser and to provide features such as remembering the products that you searched on your last visit. Web beacons, which are also known as tracking pixels, pixel tags, and clear gifs, are tiny tools that transmit information from your device to a server. For the sake of this notice, cookies, web beacons, and all other tracking technologies are collectively referred to as “tracking technologies”. We use tracking technologies to:
- remember information you gave us so that you don't have to re-enter the information each time you use our Services;
- improve your online experience as well as to provide you with a better personalized advertisements on our Services and on third party websites;
- analyze your usage of our Services and measure trends;
- improve your experience with the Services;
- measure effectiveness of advertising; and
- help troubleshoot any errors, assist you with your questions, and improve fraud detection.
We collect information about you through tracking technologies. This information may be combined with other personal information we have about you from our other services. By doing this, we can provide better services and fulfill the purposes outlined in our Privacy Notice.
You can prevent your device from accepting tracking technologies. Most devices and browsers tell you how to do so in their "help" section. Because tracking technologies allow you to take advantage of some of the Service’s features, we recommend you leave them turned on. For instance, if you block certain tracking technologies, it may disable certain functions of the Services.
IP Address & Device ID: Your IP address and Device ID are reported by your device whenever you visit the App. This information is recorded together with your registration information on our databases and used, for example, to help prevent and detect fraud.
With Whom Do We Share Your Information
We work with various third parties, such as advertising agencies and technology vendors, to enhance the performance and appeal of the Services. This includes providing you with more relevant advertising and product recommendations on our websites. We may also use social networking platforms and other third-party platforms to show you customized advertisements on other websites and applications. Additionally, we use data from your activities, such as purchasing on our sites or in our stores, to display personalized ads that match your interests. Rest assured, any data used for this purpose is handled responsibly and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
We may also disclose personal information:
- As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process
- When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or property, protect your health and safety or the health and safety of others, investigate fraud or respond to a government request
- If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of all or a portion of its assets
- To any other third party with your prior consent to do so

Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 14, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 14 without express consent in accordance with all applicable laws.
Cross Border Transfers
When you use the Services, your personal information may be transferred to and/or stored in another country or province (which may include transfer outside of Quebec), where we or our service providers operate, including the United States. By using the Services, you agree to such cross-border transfer of your personal information and understand that your information may be available to government authorities under lawful orders and laws applicable in foreign jurisdictions. We will strive to protect personal information disclosed to third parties with contractual protections to ensure that service providers with whom we share Personal Information maintain adequate privacy protections and standards. Automated Decision Making
An automated decision is a decision made using an automated process instead of human decision making.
We may use automated decision-making processes, including algorithms and machine learning techniques, to analyze your personal information. These processes may help us determine eligibility for certain services, provide personalized recommendations, or tailor advertisements to your preferences.
We won't make important decisions about you using an automated decision-making process without notifying you. You have the right to submit observations about the automated decision-making process. If you wish to know more about how our automated decision-making processes work or have concerns about the information we have collected about you, please contact us using the information provided in the Contact section. Additionally, you have the right to correct any personal information we have collected about you. Please reach out to us with any corrections or updates you would like to make.
Access Rights
You have the right to access and update the personal information we maintain about you.
Please contact your selected pharmacy (the pharmacy whose name and contact information appears on your prescription label) to request access to, correct or delete any personal information that you have provided to the pharmacy.
In addition, if you wish to update your personal information that is saved in the Services, you may make the changes directly yourself by logging into your App account and amending your information accordingly. Please note that changes you make directly to your personal information in the App will not be automatically transmitted to your selected pharmacy and so you will need to notify the pharmacy separately as outlined above.
